History
Jamieson Marine – ‘Floating your boat since 1981’
Established in 1981 by Anthony and Ann Jamieson, the idea of opening their own business came about after Anthony had the foresight to see a niche for a specialised marine service on Kangaroo Island. Initially operating out of a 30 by 60 foot shed, the business sold two outboards to local residents before the business had even officially opened – so it didn’t take long for the business to expand rapidly and feel the need for more space.
In 1985 the front showroom was built, allowing adequate room for marine parts and accessories, as well as providing a display area for new outboards, boats, and general boating equipment. But as customer demand and staffing levels grew, there was a new need for Jamieson Marine – somewhere to store all the boats! And so in 1988, the adjacent block of land was purchased.
In 2000, Anthony’s son Brad joined the family business, after being involved with the mechanical industry from the day he was big enough to climb into his Dad’s boat.
Backed by respected Australian and International sales and servicing companies, Jamieson Marine has an excellent reputation for exceptional levels of customer service and a high quality of work. Many customers come from the mainland and travel by ferry to The Island just to have their boats serviced and rigged by the reliable team at Jamieson Marine.

Anthony Jamieson – “Jamo”
Anthony began his career in the industry in 1969, when he started his Automotive apprenticeship. After developing a keen interest in marine mechanics, he took a position as a Mercury Technician on The Island during the 1970s.
After starting his business in 1981 as a Johnson/Outboard Marine Corp (OMC) / Bombardier franchise, Anton completed his Marine Master Technician training. He also attends Yamaha Service Training every year to keep up to date with new developments in technology and best-practice.
Bradley Jamieson – “Brad”
Brad started his Heavy Diesel apprenticeship in 1998 after growing up around the family business. He is now a qualified Diesel Mechanic and Marine Technician. Brad won Apprentice of the Year (Heavy Vehicle) and also won Most Outstanding Apprentice (Heavy Vehicle) in 2000. He was also a finalist in the South Australian Apprentice of the Year in 2000.
In 2002 and 2004, Brad competed in the Yamaha Marine Technician’s Grand Prix, and managed to place top in South Australia in the 2004 event. He also became a finalist in the 2004 Yamaha Oceanic Marine Technician GP and continues to attend Yamaha Training.
